Personal Profile – Debra J. Sypek

My name is Debbie Sypek and most importantly, Mom. My husband’s name is Mark and we have been married for 21 years. Eighteen years ago we brought what was the first “most precious gift” into our world, our son, Mark. Two and half years following we brought the second “most precious gift” into our world, our daughter, Laura. The most rewarding job I have had in my life is being “mom” to my two beautiful children.

The perfect world we had changed drastically when Laura was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. Life as we knew it would never again be the same. Our family as well as families of newly diagnosed children struggle with the emotional, physical and financial impact this has on them.

A parent should never have to hear the words “there is nothing left to try”. On June 12, 2006 Laura passed away. In Laura’s memory the Soupy for Loopy Foundation was established. Our mission is to raise funds for continuing research and funding for new trials to cure childhood cancer.
