Laura creating a masterpiece in December, 2003 (New Year’s Eve).
Laura spent a couple of years going back and forth to New York City in two-week intervals to receive antibody therapy at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. When all of the pain medications wore off and she had her favorite soup for lunch (yes, her mom made it fresh for her every day and she ate it faithfully every day), the Little Shop of Crafts down the street from the Ronald McDonald House in Manhattan was one of her favorite places to go. There, she could pick out something to paint, add her creative flair and forget about the painful morning she just had. She loved to do arts and crafts with her friends, but without her friends, she was still able to do something she liked. Laura painted the surface of the "R" red and added silver lines to the black edges to look like a tire. You see, she made this masterpiece for her Uncle Rich, who likes cars, trucks and tractors. She did a great job! Uncle Rich proudly displays it and will forever cherish it.
