About Us
Soupy for Loopy Foundation, Inc. is an all-volunteer, registered 501 (C) (3) charitable organization with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Office of the Attorney General, Division of Public Charities and is exempt from Federal income tax under section 501 (C) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. This foundation was established in 2007 after our family’s devastating loss of Laura A. Sypek to Neuroblastoma on June 12, 2006 at the age of 11. Our hope is that Laura’s endless zest for life under such dire circumstances will serve as a heroic example for all who feel compelled to join this crusade and help save lives of children with cancer.
Laura received wonderful medical care at Baystate Medical Center Children's Hospital, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Although Laura was able to maintain a quality of life that allowed her to just be a kid and do things that other kids did, the best treatments, while they worked for a while, failed to save her life. We need to do more and do it now!
Mission Statement
Laura was our ray of sunshine who demonstrated a tremendous amount of courage, fortitude, generosity and compassion for others while fighting fiercely for her own life. And so our mission is to …
- raise funds to assist doctors and hospitals in continuing research efforts and finding new and innovative ways to treat and ultimately find a cure for Neuroblastoma
-
raise awareness of Neuroblastoma by spreading The Soupy for Loopy Story and providing website links to valuable information that parents need to know
Soupy for Loopy Foundation exists because of special children like Laura who battled childhood cancer and the adverse effects of treatment. Yet, she never let it become an obstacle. Rather, she fought the challenge with all her might and even helped to raise money for a cure.
We recognize that finding a cure for Neuroblastoma is only half the battle. Finding new and innovative ways to treat this disease, understand it, and promote awareness of it are just as important. All of these goals are attainable but not without adequate funding. Soupy for Loopy Foundation together with people like you can make a difference in a child’s life …
- It may mean giving a child stricken with this disease a quality of life that would otherwise not be an option.
- It may mean giving parents hope that their child will get better.
- It may mean learning more about this disease so early detection can mean a better chance for survival.
- It may mean a cure … wouldn’t that be wonderful!
Thank you for finding a cure for childhood cancer and giving hope…One Bowl at a Time!
