Laura loved to read, whether at home before bedtime, at school, or during hospital stays (and she had plenty of those). She also enjoyed a variety of activities at the library and so we found it most fitting to create a special place in her memory for those who knew Laura as well as those who will get to know her by reading her favorite books or watching her favorite movies.

Laura’s Loft is decorated with a definite hint of purple, Laura’s favorite color. Laura liked to sit by the window during her hospital stays, so there is a window on each side of the bookcase. You will also notice colorful and sparkling butterflies hanging above. Butterflies were one of Laura’s favorite drawing subjects. Like Laura, butterflies share their beauty with all in the short time they fly about. There are twelve in all, one for that special day of her birth and one for each glorious year that she graced our presence with her heartwarming smile and cheerful personality.

We have provided a selection of Laura’s favorite books and movies that she enjoyed throughout her life and hope that you can spend some time here and that you enjoy them as much as Laura did. We will continue to add books to this collection to provide a fresh assortment of titles for ages 7-18 to support the Ready, Set, Read fundraising program.
