I attended the West Springfield Police versus the Fire Basketball Game, a fund raising event for Laura Sypek. It always amazes me how ordinary people can pool their efforts together to perform extraordinary things. As a Community Outreach Coordinator for H&R Block I had the opportunity to help raise money for this cause. I made a personal commitment to Laura’s dad and godmother that I and H&R Block would continue to support Laura’s Foundation as much as possible. Through an activity which we creatively named, “HOOPIES FOR LOOPY”, four people took 10 shots from the foul line. Each basket or “HOOPIE” was worth $10, if the shot was missed but hit the rim $5. Through this activity we raised $295. It was a great event, it is an awesome cause, and I was honored to be a part of it. May God Bless Laura, and the Sypek family.

Hi there. I just wanted to let you know what a great website you have here. Reading about your brave, beautiful daughter is very inspiring and precious. I am so very sorry for your loss. My daughter is currently fighting her first bout of stage 4 neuroblastoma at 15yo. She was diagnosed last April and we are preparing for her first stem-cell transplant currently. I think what you are doing here is fantastic - and wanted to say thank you, as the money your daughter and family have raised directly contributes to my daughters chances of survival. Just want to say say thank you sincerely from the bottom of my heart. Best regards.

Hi. I was looking up neuroblastoma web sites and found yours. I am very touched by your story and your wonderful daughter, Laura. My son was diagnosed at 4 months and recurred at 2 years. He spent the first three years of his life in pretty much constant treatment. He is now 8 years old and has so far been cancer free. I don't have a day go by when I am not grateful that he is still here with us. Thank you for sharing your wonderful daughter with me. We support, and will continue to support neuroblastoma research. I appreciate all you've done to shed more light on this horrible cancer. You seem to have done many wonderful things to celebrate Laura's life and find your own way to cope. I'm sure you know about Camp Sunshine in Portland, ME but I wanted to put a plug in here for them as they do an amazing job working with the whole family as we cope with the trauma of life threatening illness and loss. It's not research but they can be a lifeline for families - they certainly have been for ours. Thanks again for this lovely site. All my best. MJ

Dear Debbie, Mark, Markie, Sandy, Rich, and all of your family, This site is a beautiful tribute to Laura. It was a pleasure to look back through the various events, and stages of her life. Many times, as a family, we discussed how we were truly in awe of her undying zest for living, even at the hardest times of her life. These photos really capture how much she experienced, and accomplished in a short time. We all know how much you loved Laura (there was so much to love about her). Through your beautiful selection of photos for this site, you will be able to introduce Laura to other people who may may need inspiration or encouragement. Love, John, Donna, John, Sarah, and Emily
