“We are well on our way to meeting our goal for patients enrolled in our new clinical study. Over the last 5 months, since the trial opened, several patients have received the trivalent vaccine for the treatment of neuroblastoma. There have been no severe side effects. At this rate, we anticipate continued accrual and completion of enrollment within the next 1-2 years. That is a tremendous pace for an undertaking of this type, and we are thankful to Soupy for Loopy for your support of our efforts. Studies like this one bring us one step closer to being able to provide effective treatments for neuroblastoma and putting an end to the suffering caused by this disease.” Great news!!!

Progress Statement from Dr. Brian Kushner at MSKCC  December 2009

Since the trial opened in July, 2009, fifteen patients have received the vaccine for the treatment of neuroblastoma. There have been no severe side effects. At this rate, doctors at MSKCC anticipate continued accrual and completion of enrollment within the next 1-2 years. That is a tremendous pace for an undertaking of this type. As Dr. Kushner states, “The phase I study is coming along very well, with no major side effects, such that we are preparing a successor trial with a somewhat improved vaccine and in a phase II setting. This is exactly what we were aiming for and are so pleased to see the positive progress.”

Progress Statement from Dr. Brian Kushner at MSKCC  January 2011

“The Phase I study, which consented fifteen patients, closed in 2012. Since there were no severe side effects observed and some patients appeared to benefit from the vaccine, the study was amended to add a Phase II component. We anticipate accruing and treating an additional thirty patients on this Phase II study. To date, thirteen patients have been enrolled, with no severe side effects. At this rate, we anticipate continued accrual and completion of enrollment within the next two-three years. Of great importance, the widespread interest in this treatment has resulted in its being adopted by national consortium of pediatric oncology centers, for a randomized study.”
